What is an allergy cough

Use exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Cough or freezing medicine is generally taken only for a short time until your symptoms clear up.

Always enquire a doctor before giving a cough or freezing medicine to a child. Death can happen from the misuse of cough and freezing medicines in extremely young children.

Shake the oral suspension (liquid) well just before you measure a dose.

Measure the liquid with a special dose-measuring spoon or medicine cup. If you do not own a dose-measuring device, enquire your pharmacist for one.

This medication can affect the results of allergy skin tests. Tell any doctor who treats you that you are taking an antihistamine.

Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 7 days of treatment, or if you own a fever with a headache, cough, or skin rash.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.


What is Tannic-12 S?

Carbetapentane is a cough suppressant.

Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body.

Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose.

Tannic-12 S is a combination medicine is used to treat cough, sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes caused by allergies or the common cold.

This medication will not treat a cough that is caused by smoking, asthma, or emphysema.

Tannic-12 S may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.


What happens if I miss a dose?

Since Tannic-12 S is used when needed, you may not be on a dosing schedule. If you are on a schedule, use the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose.

Do not use additional medicine to make up the missed dose.


Before taking this medicine

Do not use this medicine if you own used an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days. A dangerous drug interaction could happen. MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue injection, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, tranylcypromine, and others.

You should not use this medication if you are allergic to carbetapentane or chlorpheniramine.

To make certain Tannic-12 S is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have:

  1. asthma or other breathing disorder; or

  2. blockage in your digestive tract (stomach or intestines);

  3. heart disease, high or low blood pressure;

  4. liver or kidney disease;

  5. bladder obstruction or other urination problems;

  6. glaucoma;

  7. thyroid disorder;

  8. if you take potassium (Cytra, Epiklor, K-Lyte, K-Phos, Kaon, Klor-Con, Polycitra, Urocit-K).

FDA pregnancy category C.

It is not known whether Tannic-12 S will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant while using this medication.

Carbetapentane and chlorpheniramine can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby.
